Description

Ariadne merione merione also known as common castor butterfly is a brownish orange butterfly with black wavy lines. In females, these wavy lines are broader in the form of distinct bands. Physical Characteristics Outer margins are irregular on fore wing while wavy on hind wing. Unpaired dark parallel lines on upper side. Tiny white spot near the apex on both sides. Areas near the upper margin of hind wing has white veins without dark lines on male’s upper side. Large, dark, diffused patch on under side of male’s hind wing. Habits Prefers to fly at ground level to scrub level.
