As per the recommendations of “Sexual Harassment at Workplace (prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act 2013”of Government of India the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee is established in the college in 2017-18 to provide a healthy and safe ambience to the girl students and female staff of the college. The committee works for resolution of matters/ any issue is raised orally or written by any girl student and female staff members in connection with the sexual harassment on the college campus. The act has briefed the constitution of the cell, the SOP to be followed for registering the complaint, and setting inquiry into the complaint defined time period.
Objective:
1. To develop the guidelines and norms for policies against sexual harassment
2. To develop and implement directives for the complaint/issue raised
3. To organize gender sensitization awareness programmes/events
4. To provide healthy and safe ambience to all the girl and female staff of the college
What is Sexual Harassment?
As per the directive glossary of the POSH act of 2013 of Government of India which defines sexual harassment as unwelcome sexually determined behavior (whether directly or indirectly) such as:
Verbal or Physical threats/Abuse
Insulting, Abusive, Embarrassing or Patronizing behavior or Comments
Offensive gestures, Language, Rumors, Gossip or Jokes
Humiliating, Intimidating, Demeaning and/or Persistent criticism, open hostility
Publishing, Circulating or Displaying pornographic, Racist, Sexually suggestive or Otherwise offensive pictures or other materials
The unwanted physical contact

assures and resolves all the complaints of the female students, teaching and non-teaching staffs treated with dignity and respect and the complaints should be kept confidential.
False Reporting: Intentionally making a false report or providing false information is grounds for indiscipline.

Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee Composition:

Role of Committee:
1. Create and ensure a safe work environment for girls and women.
2. Register complaints of sexual harassment of women employed, to conduct inquiries, and provide assistance.
4. If any case is registered, it is recommended that the concerned authorities take follow-up action and monitor the same.
5. To maintain an atmosphere of equality and gender justice.
5. To prepare annual reports.
